## Faculty Teaching at a Non-Home Campus

Occasionally, there may be a short-term need for a faculty member to teach courses on a UConn campus different from their home campus. Academic units should have flexibility to occasionally assign faculty where there is need, particularly when this can be done feasibly and more efficiently across campuses to help address instructional demand. The unit must consult with the faculty member at all stages of the plan. These decisions should follow a clear and consistent process to ensure appropriate coordination, oversight, and documentation. The process should be as follows:

1. The Department Head or Director, in consultation with the regional campus administration, identifies the instructional need and a proposed faculty assignment, confirming that it is workable from a workload and scheduling perspective, and consistent with faculty contracts.
2. The proposed arrangement is shared with and approved by the Dean, or the Dean’s designee, prior to implementation. The proposals should include the justification for the change, plans identifying how courses will be covered on both affected campuses, and confirmation of the Regional Campus Dean’s approval. The College will not provide funds to cover courses associated with this change.
3. Once approved, the assignment is reflected appropriately in BMS, and the department may proceed with scheduling and any necessary coordination across campuses.

## Faculty Campus Change

As a general rule, the College does not move faculty permanently from one campus to another. However, the College may consider a change in extraordinary circumstances. In that case, the College would need to make a recommendation to the Provost, who would then need to approve it.
