Department heads, unit directors, and administrators work with the Dean’s Office and the [CLAS Business Center](https://facultystaff.clas.uconn.edu/portal/124?autoLogin=true) to plan budgets, staffing, and course offerings each year. The systems below support that work by providing data for planning, budgeting, scheduling, and reporting.

For help with these systems, [open a support request](https://facultystaff.clas.uconn.edu/portal/124?createRequest=true&portalId=124&requestTypeId=710?autoLogin=true) or email [bsc@uconn.edu](mailto:bsc@uconn.edu).

## CLAS Systems and Applications

**The following systems are available only while connected to the UConn network.**

### College Holistic Academic Data (CHAD)

The [College Holistic Academic Data (CHAD) dashboard](https://login.uconn.edu/cas/login?service=https%3a%2f%2fchad.clas.uconn.edu%2f) brings together administrative, academic, financial, and research data to support planning and decision-making across the College.

Department leaders can use CHAD to monitor trends and review information such as:

- Personnel and organizational roles

- Student enrollment and degree conferrals

- Research expenditures and grant proposals

- Department space utilization

- Financial and operational metrics

These reports help departments evaluate progress, plan for the future, and support requests for University resources.

### Business Management Services (BMS) and Staffing Plans

[Business Management Services (BMS)](https://bms.clas.uconn.edu/) is the College’s system for planning course offerings, teaching assignments, and instructional resources.

Department administrators use BMS to:

- Build and manage course schedules

- Assign instructors and teaching responsibilities

- Review staffing needs and graduate assistant support

- Monitor instructional metrics such as teaching load, temporary labor costs, and cost per seat

BMS also shares course information with the Registrar’s Office to support the publication of the [Undergraduate and Graduate Catalogs](https://catalog.uconn.edu/) and the [Schedule of Classes](https://classes.uconn.edu/).

### Graduate Student Administration (GSA)

The [Graduate Student Administration (GSA) system](https://bms.clas.uconn.edu/gsa) is a CLAS application that helps departments manage graduate student information, including assistantships, advising, milestones, and enrollment data. It uses data from the [Student Administration System](https://studentadmin.uconn.edu/) and information provided by department administrators.

The Student Administration System remains the University’s official system of record. Departments should continue to update official student records in this system.
